A Super Premium Food for All Breeds of Cats and Kittens

There is evidence that proper nutrition and correct eating habits can enhance health, performance, and longevity. We are starting to understand that the overprocessing and synthetic additives that add color and texture can destroy much of the nutritional value of both people food and pet food.

Flint River Ranch Cat and Kitten food is extruded with the addition of a slight baking process to give it the crusty texture. This chicken and lamb meal formula is manufactured under carefully controlled conditions and temperatures, resulting in better nutrition, palatability, and digestibility for your pet. The secret to Flint River Ranch's great nutrition is how many nutrients are present in the cat's food and how efficiently they are used when digested. High digestibility means that your cat retains more of the food that it eats, and has other benefits too: the cat requires less food, and produces smaller, firmer stools and less clean-up.

PROTEIN: The amino acids provided by the chicken and lamb meal are the basic building blocks of muscle, skin, coat, bone, blood, and the immune system. The most important ingredient in a cat's diet is protein.

ESSENTIAL TAURINE: The high-quality chicken meal provides taurine, an essential amino acid for cats, at much higher levels than the poultry by-products used in most cat foods. It is important for eyes, heart, nervous system, and reproductive system.

FATS: Fats provide energy and include essentials for cell structure, hormones, enzymes, and fat soluble vitamins. The fat source has no Ethoxyquin—it is naturally preserved with vitamin E.

FELINE LOWER URINARY TRACT DISEASE (FLUTD; formerly termed FUS, or Feline Urologic Syndrome): Diseases of the lower urinary tract occur frequently in cats. A common cause of the disease is struvite urinary crystals; typically a diet that promotes the formation of urine that is acidic and that is low in magnesium is recommended for this condition. Flint River Ranch Cat and Kitten formula has a magnesium level of 0.095% and a target urinary pH of 6.2. Fresh, clean water is essential in preventing urinary crystals and for general good health; cats often prefer to have water available in several locations. Also, keep litter boxes clean, and keep stress levels low.

CORN: Corn is more readily digested in felines than in canines and supplies important diet benefits to cats and kittens. Corn is a nutritionally superior grain compared with others used in pet foods because it contains a balance of nutrients not found in other grains. Corn provides a highly available source of complex carbohydrates and substantial quantities of linoleic acid, an essential Omega-6 fatty acid that is important for healthy skin. Corn also provides essential amino acids, enzymes, protein, vitamins B and E, minerals, and fiber.

COST: Cat food is higher in price per pound than dog food because there is more pure meat protein in cat food.

INGREDIENTS: Chicken Meal, Ground Yellow Corn, Lamb Meal, Corn Gluten Meal, Chicken Fat (Preserved with Mixed Tocopherols and Ascorbic Acid), Ground Whole Wheat, Inactive Dried Brewer's Yeast, Fish Meal, Corn Germ Meal, Salt, Dried Beet Pulp, Dehydrated Cheese, Lecithin, D-Activated Animal Sterol (Source of Vitamin D3), Vitamin A Acetate, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin Supplement, Riboflavin, Calcium Pantothenate, Choline Chloride, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Folic Acid, Biotin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Inositol, DL-Methionine, Manganese, Dehydrated Kelp, Zinc Sulphate, Copper Sulphate, Cobalt Sulphate, Ferrous Sulphate, Taurine, Calcium Iodate, Sodium Selenite, Dried Whey.

Feline Feeding

Cats are finicky eaters. Our tests show that besides flavor and aroma, texture and shape are very important in determining cat food palatability. Cats first smell their food; if it passes this test, shape then becomes important because it determines the way it feels and breaks apart in the cat's mouth. Fresh water should be available at all times as your cat will drink more water when fed dry food.

Young kittens may be started on Flint River Ranch food by mixing it with a little warm water. Feed food dry as soon as the kitten's teeth are strong enough to chew hard food (8 to 10 weeks). Feed kittens three times a day; after 3 months, twice a day.

After 3 months of age, cats should be fed twice a day. Your cat should be looking for food when the next meal is due. Teach them to eat at meal times. The amount your cat eats in 15-20 minutes is about the amount they should be fed at that meal. Adjust the food as you notice an increase or decrease in the animal's weight.

Weight Feeding Amount per Day
3-5 lbs. 1/4 to 1/2 Cup
5-10 lbs. 1/2 to 1 Cup
10-15 lbs. 1 to 1 1/3 Cup

It's essential to keep plenty of fresh, clean water available. Cats often prefer to have water available in several locations. Clean food and water bowls daily.
