Carmella at 4 Years

Breed: Cocker Spaniel (American)Weight: 18 pounds
Gender: Female
Favorite Food: Flint River Ranch Lamb/Millet/Rice and, as per our vet's recommendation, fruits and vegetables (broccoli, squash, apples, pears, blueberries, occasional raspberries, and cantaloupe).
Favorite Activities: Carmella loves one brand of squeaky ball -- it looks like a miniature soccer ball -- and can bounce a ball off her nose, catch it in her mouth, and return it. Her favorite first toy is a purple fleece pig. Now she always picks up a stuffed toy when she wants to go outside. She adores my daughter and granddaughter and loves snow.
Story: This picture was taken on St. Patrick's Day in Des Moines four years to the day that I visited Namees Cockers in Renville, Minnesota, where I found my Carmella. Always a challenge to photograph, I was extremely fortunate that Carmella was intrigued by a large, juicy California red raspberry held aloft on this frosty morning. After the photo was taken, she gobbled up the fresh berry and dashed across the fluffy snow in our fenced yard, hot on the trail of a daring rabbit. This is the best close-up I've taken, capturing her caramel eyebrows and other facial details, and accented by the snow that was still gently falling at the time.
